What was your favourite thing to do on Hornby Island?
Emma: My favourite thing on Hornby is biking to Grassy Point and finding a good place to sit on the driftwood and watch the sunset. There aren’t many lights near by so it is also a great spot for stargazing. Don’t forget to wear something warm as it gets cool when the sun goes down.
Jack: My favourite beach on Hornby was Sandpiper, there are stacks of rock layers that you can walk on and see how the rock is formed. All the beaches on Hornby are so different but this one was unlike any beach I have been to before.
Shelley: Two Hornby favourites although the list could be much longer. I love the hike at Helliwell Provincial Park. If you take the loop trail, you get a little bit of forest, gorgeous bluffs and vistas that go on forever, and a beach as you make your way to the eastern tip of the park. My favourite place for a lazy day at the beach is Whaling Station Beach. It has sand, great swimming, and interesting rock formations to explore and always seems quieter than Tribune Bay. Robin: One of my favourite places and things to do is visit Grassy Point in the late afternoon and at sunset. We’ve made lots of memories riding our bikes to this spot biking around the top part of the park before parking and exploring the point, walking on the rocky shore, looking at tide pools, enjoying the sunset and spending quiet moments with family. It is a place I find calming and love the nature and beauty all around. If you are lucky like we have been after the sun sets and the stars come out you can sometimes hear the breath of whales as they swim past the island.
