Good Eats Paris, France: A Feast for the Family
The Splurge
In each of the cities we visited, we found one restaurant that we wanted to try out, it was our splurge dinner. We looked for places with great food, great ambiance, and a menu that appealed to everyone including the sometimes-picky kids. In Paris, this was Il Était un Square. Not sure how we found this one, but this burger bistro didn’t disappoint, it offered up some of the best burgers and fries we’ve ever eaten. You can make reservations in advance online if you want to guarantee a specific date and time.
A Few Favourites

- Chez Meunier – this was our first stop in Paris for a croissant and we went back at least three times during our week-long stay. A great bakery with ready-made baguette sandwiches for your picnic on the Seine.
- Boulangerie Paul – another great bakery and lunch stop. Great value if you are looking for a meal, just be sure to bring a friend to share it with as the portions are large.
- Il Était un Square – a great spot to stop for lunch in the Corvisart district across from a beautiful park. Their burgers and fries are amazing and the service is fantastic.
- Le Paradis du Fruit – a great dinner spot with something for everyone from healthy smoothies to salads, and bowls. Dinner here might just help balance out all the baguettes you’ll eat during your stay.
- Angelina – visit if you are looking for some amazing hot chocolate and treats.
- Amorino – a great spot for a gelato with a twist. You can order as many flavours as you like as they turn your dessert into the leaves of a flower.
- Ladurée – have tea in their restaurant or stop by their macaron bar on the Champs Elysées for some treats to take home.

What’s in the grocery store?
Whenever we visit somewhere new, we love to check out the grocery store and see how it differs from our options at home. In Paris, we shopped at the outdoor markets for fruit and vegetables right outside our door, picked up fresh bread and treats from the nearby boulangerie, and ate a lot of picnics and food we could take on the go with us. Even though we enjoyed all the croissants and fresh baguette we were all ready for a big helping of veggies once we returned home. In addition to all of the delicious baked treats we tried, our Amorino gelato was one of our Paris favourites.
We also made a visit to a very fancy (on the outside) McDonalds during our stay. They even sold macarons.
