Flytographer – Favourite Holiday Memories Made Simple

Who Doesn’t Want to Come Home from a Holiday with the Best Souvenir?

We love to travel and one of my favourite things about travelling is documenting our trips so that we can remember them forever. This is even better when it doesn’t take a lot of time and energy. Now that we’ve tried Flytographer there is no going back. I can’t imagine not doing this for all the big trips we take. Here’s why.

Our Experience

When it comes to family photos we don’t have a lot, especially when we travel. Since I’m usually the one behind the camera, I’m rarely captured in the shots. Whenever I hand my phone over to some kind person who offers to take our picture, it usually doesn’t end well.

As our kids grew up we had photos taken of them every few years alongside many candid shots. Each year I would amass these photos into a special birthday photobook to capture our memories. We posed with our extended family to have professional photos taken several years ago. While the photos were great, it was time intensive and expensive, with little flexibility on photo ordering.

On our last holiday, we learned about Flytographer and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, the experience was fantastic. When we received the photos, while sitting in the airport waiting for our flight home, we couldn’t have been happier. We had so many to choose from, it was hard to decide which ones I to print. I loved them all. As I write this, I’m looking at four framed Flytographer photos proudly displayed in my office.

Why Use Flytographer?

  1. Create the Best Holiday Souvenir – The best souvenirs we can bring home from a trip are our memories. Each time we look at our Flytographer photos we are brought right back to our experience laughing, playing and ending up very wet on a warm Hawaiian beach.
  2. Capture Everyone in Your Family – Making sure the whole family can be present and included in the photos is important, especially for me. On our photoshoot, I didn’t even have to worry about anyone’s hair or clothes being out of place, the photographer took care of all the details.
  3. Learn About Unique Locations – We chose a beach that was the photographer’s favourite, one we hadn’t been to before and likely wouldn’t have visited without her. Relying on local knowledge to help us find the perfect spot, with fewer people and the best scenery, was invaluable.
  4. Meet the Locals – One of the best things about travel is getting to know a place through the people. Our hour long photoshoot felt like it was with a new friend. Our photographer gave us recommendations on places to visit, eat and offered to answer any questions we might have during our stay. If you are headed to Maui, see if Marie is available for a photoshoot, she is a fantastic human and an outstanding photographer.
  5. All the Planning is Done for You – Even the happiest planner likes to hand over the reins on holidays. Once we booked, everything was arranged for us. We received a helpful Style Guide on what to wear for our photos and a text a couple of days before our photoshoot confirming the meet-up location. It was that easy.
  6. Even More Than Holidays – Flytographer has expanded to offering hometown photoshoots, surprise proposals, event photography, and even the modern headshot.

How it Works

  1. It’s Easy to Book – The hardest part was picking where we wanted to go on vacation. Once you know where you are headed, pick a photographer, request a date and time and off you go. Once your request is approved, you get to select a spot for your photos.
  2. Decide on the Aesthetic – Depending on where you are vacationing and where you chose to have your photos taken, decide on your family’s look. Being at the beach we chose to forgo the fancy clothes and shoes. We picked cool neutrals – white, beige, and navy that coordinated but weren’t exactly the same.
  3. The Photoshoot – There are several different options for photoshoots, they vary in length, price and number of locations. We went with an hour at a single location, although the beach still offered a variety of different backdrops. We met up with Marie and she made us feel at ease from the start. She wanted us to have fun, play and connect with one another. She had us dancing in the water, racing one another on the beach, seeing how high we could jump, and looking out at the sunset. The hour flew by and was one of the favourite things we did on our holiday (and we hadn’t even seen the photos yet).
  4. The Photos– About five days after our photoshoot, we received our photos via a web portal where we could view and download all our digital pictures. They were beautiful. I’ve included a few of my favourites below. There is no obligation to order prints or photobooks through Flytographer, although they offer this service if you want to do everything in one convenient stop.
